The student develops an understanding of the structure of the Spanish language and is able to use an appropriate level of formality according to the situation, whether in writing or in speech.
The student completes between two and six courses (depending on his or her choice of emphasis, as either language and linguistics knowledge or literary and cultural knowledge) related to the Spanish language and linguistics. These courses deal with: the sound system of Spanish, the history of Spanish, advanced grammar, Spanish-English translation, a general introduction to Spanish linguistics, Spanish for professional application (medical, legal, etc. spheres), composition and conversation.

1. SPAN-301: Composition Oral Practice
In this class I was able to fulfill MLO 1 through the practice of reading , writing and presenting during formal in-class interaction and presentations. I was also able to write formal and coherent essays that prepared me for my Capstone project. This writing involved informative and legitimate research information to gain experience for future essays, reports and formal presentations.
2. SPAN-302: History/Phonetics Structure of Spanish Language
In this course I was able to learn the phonetic structure of the Spanish alphabet. I learned to transcribe pieces of literature, paragraphs and short sentences. I also acquire some knowledge about the phonetic letter sounds such as the "s", "z", "h", "ch", "j", "y" and more.
